Animals have always been a part of my life. Dogs, ducks, banty chicks,
a red fox, a baby woodchuck (groundhog ), my beautiful Arabian/quarter
horse were all part of my childhood and growing up years. 30 years ago,
cats were added to the domestic equation and have been a part of our
household ever since along with various dogs, all of them shelter or
street rescues.
I am the chairperson of the Natural Resources Committee in the gated community where we now live, and there is no hunting allowed. This is one of the reasons we choose to live here. It's a forested community and we have white tail deer, rabbits, skunks, possums, wild turkeys, red foxes and grey foxes, bob cats , a couple of otters in our upper lake , lots of song birds, red tail hawks, red shoulder hawks, kestrels, black buzzards in the winter and occasionally an American eagle will fly through. Sometimes a Great Blue Heron will grace our lakes, plus Canada Geese, Mallard, and Wood Ducks, Black Ducks, Buffleheads in winter, and during the migration months, we've hosted a large flock of Snow Geese, a Tundra Swan, and other swans. You'll note I didn't mention squirrels because I think that's a given!!! We also have occasional coyotes and wild pigs. We are on the edge of the Chattahoochee National forest, so one never knows what one will see on our hiking trails.
I will do all I can to help in any way, any animal of any species. They are all precious to the circle of life.
A little before my time, it was written, "But God remembered Noah and all the wild animals and all the domestic animals that were with him in the ark" -Genesis 8-1
Who am I to do otherwise?

Tinker Bachant has been expressing herself through drawings since she could first hold a pencil and has never lost her love of painting on paper. A member of Southeastern Pastel Society, Pastel Society Of North Florida (PSNF), Currahee Arts Guild and Art Helping Animals Artists (AHAA), this award-winning artist has exhibited in many jury and non-jury shows, and has paintings in private collections throughout the United States, Canada, and South America.
Tinker's love of animals is clearly evident in the sensitive portraits she paints of any and all types of pets. Her main objective is to capture not only the likeness of the animal, but the distinct personality each possesses. You should be able to look at the painting and say "That's my pet".
All works are painted on archival surfaces with soft pastels which imparts a life like quality to the finished painting. Pastels do not crack or discolor and with reasonable care have along life.
Pet portraits are done from photos. (If any photo was taken by a professional photographer, copyright release must be obtained and submitted.) Extra photos are helpful but not absolutely necessary. All photos will be returned. Your satisfaction is important; therefore the detail of the completed portrait is dependent on the quality of photos submitted. Sharp focus, accurate coloring and clearly defined eyes and nose are important to producing a true likeness. A brief personality description is helpful in obtaining each pet's unique quality.
Children's portraits are also done from photos, and the same rule applies if photo is taken by a professional photographer. This site includes examples of animal and children's paintings that are commissioned works, as well as non-commissioned animal and non-animal works, that are for sale. Selling prices are listed on those paintings. Shipping extra. See contact page for details.
